Gilbert Avila, Founder
Gilbert graduated from Baylor University in 2016 with his Masters in Taxation and in 2014 graduated with his B.B.A with a quadruple major in Accounting, Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Real Estate.
After graduating from Baylor, Gilbert went on to work at KPMG as an Associate in Federal Taxation preparing C-Corp, S-Corp, Partnership, and Trusts across a variety of industries from oil and gas, insurance, tech, and medical. Additionally, Gilbert also had the opportunity, during his internship prior to graduating, to work in KPMG’s advisory department in their financial management group performing consulting services for a large energy company’s CFO who wanted to revamp their FP&A process.
Gilbert left KPMG to pursue an exciting role as an internal auditor for a multinational inspection company, Intertek, traveling the country and world to such places as Hong Kong and Sao Paulo to perform internal audits of the firms finance and operations teams to ensure that the firm’s controls were being implemented and enforced as well as proper accounting treatment and processes were being followed. He was involved in the planning, execution, and reporting of full audits, audit reviews, and desktop audits.
Gilbert went on to help his mother at her tax practice, Master Latinos Income Tax services, which he also worked at during his high school and college years, helping prepare individual tax returns and resolving tax disputes. At Master Latinos, he focused preparing Schedule A’s and C’s and conducting tax research.
Although Gilbert may seem to be a tax expert, he has grown up with very entrepreneurial parents, siblings, and family friends witnessed their successes and failures which molded him to have a life-long goal to be an entrepreneur. Gilbert is passionate about all things business such as Accounting, Finance, Mangement, Real Estate, Markting, and Sales. Gilbert has finally acted on his dreams to start his own company, Latino CPA, LLC while pursuing his CPA designation. Gilbert is determined to complete his exams by June 2019 and by August at the latest.
